FAQ

When is the Brain Freezer 5K?

The race starts at 10am on Saturday, July 8, 2016. It starts and ends in Battery Park.

I can’t eat a whole pint of ice cream in the middle of a 5K, but I still want to race. May I still participate?

Absolutely! While we are appealing to the extreme eater-runners out there, we also want to have everyone participate in the event! For that reason, we have created three different types of race entries:

Competitors – You’re in it to win it. Whether competing individually or on a team, the competitors are the only ones eligible for time awards.

Fun runners – You still get to compete in the race, but you won’t get a hard time if you leave a few spoonfuls in the bottom of the carton. Perhaps you want to run the race, but you want your friend to eat your ice cream for you — that’s OK! Oh, and you’re still eligible for the best dressed awards.

Supporters – You don’t run, but you’re there to support your friends or to support the cause. You still score a shirt, but you only have to pay $10 to be a part of the crazy day.

How much does it cost to participate?

Here’s the price break-down for the 2016 race:
$25 Students /$30 Adults (8/1/16-3/31/17)
$30/$35 (4/1/17 – 6/30/17)
$35/$40 (7/1/17 – 7/8/17)

Is this race affiliated with any local businesses?

Please note that this race is in no way affiliated with any of the Vermont ice cream or sorbet producers (e.g., Ben & Jerry’s, Island Ice Cream). PHPG purchases or receives donations of the product used as part of the Brain Freezer 5K. We do thank all of the companies that have donated money, time, or services to PHPG in order to make the Brain Freezer 5K a success.
